I live in a world without it and have no desire to expose myself to it through literature. Good writers can certainly write good stories without it.
Having said that, I did finish The Martian despite the profanity because the book was that good.
The good news is that Andy Weir has matured in his writing and Project Hail Mary is virtually profanity-free. I like it better than The Martian and it is now one of my favorite books. It is a terrific story.(less)
