Arthur C Clarke's City and the Stars. We have reached the perfect utopia and want for nothing as a civilisation. Poverty and greed have been eliminated. But, like all utopia's there is a bad side. If you do the math it is extremely likely that I would be chosen - so blissful immortality? Who could say no.
