Colin Parton You can feel it moving near you, in the darkness by your bed. The click-clack of it's blades tap the bed frame and still your body refuses to move.
Colin Parton Arthur C Clarke's City and the Stars. We have reached the perfect utopia and want for nothing as a civilisation. Poverty and greed have been eliminated. But, like all utopia's there is a bad side. If you do the math it is extremely likely that I would be chosen - so blissful immortality? Who could say no.

Colin Parton I can't say that I ever have writer's block. For me I think this comes down to understanding how I work. I work pretty formulaically. I have a pretty structured way of story telling. So I work to the structure and then flesh everything out.

This doesn't mean predictable, at least in the bad way we read that word. Meet expectations in unexpected ways - as my old lecturer used to say.

So because I can see the path in front of me it is never hidden from me.
Colin Parton Are you kidding. People pay me money to tell fantastic tales.
Colin Parton I started this because I enjoyed the work - so it didn't feel like work. I think that is still the case. Any job that you do that doesn't feel like work is probably along the lines of what you should be doing with your life.

If that thing happens to be writing - well write write write. Then write some more. Try lots and lots of different subjects and styles. Another thing that will really help you discovering what you enjoy writing about and how you enjoy writing about it is reading. So in between writing you need to read. Read widely as well.
Colin Parton Polishing up the sequel to Myra: Snorri. And then the third book in the series - Tarion. These are both pretty much ready to go. As a self-publisher so much of your time after publishing is marketing so not a huge amount of writing happening right now.
Next is continuing the preparatory work for Paths of the Chosen - The sequel to The Gathering.
Colin Parton I've always loved stories. Narrative is what connects us. It allows us to make sense of the world around us and form cultural groups.
