Jacklyn Rogers
Jacklyn Rogers asked Charlaine Harris:

Hi Charmaine ... First off I have to say I love Sookie's books I own them all in paperback format. 🥰 My question is probably an odd one but I have already written two stories in this genre and know there is a need to not empathize too much with the grim situations your characters are faced with. Have you ever had characters that made it challenging to not to feel guilty for what you put them through?

Charlaine Harris Oh, I feel guilty all the time! But I do it, anyway. If I think it's awful, readers will think it's awful, I figure. And I don't want to be scared of running my characters through a wringer . . . because that happens in real life. It's how the character rises to the occasion that's the key to redemption.
