Christine Feehan The Dark series utilizes the lifemate mythology. The male's soul is split, he has half and the other half goes to his female lifemate.

Finished all the Leopard's~Loved each book. Found myself researching things. What a Kapok or Giant Red Cedar looks like & all the vines, creepers, Oil Palms and the birds, monkeys, sun bears, frogs, the tribes. OMG, I had a visual and it felt like I was there-fantastic writing! Have you lived in, or visited the rainforests? You can't Google all those wonderful sensations you give to a reader. Thank you!
