Kimmery Martin Great question! I think it dives into Nick's psychological makeup--he was fairly immature emotionally during residency. I think he did love Zadie but bought into the perception of himself as an alpha-male type who didn't need to commit to just one person in a relationship. Later, I think he regretted his actions, but by then, obviously, it was too late.
