Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Dianna Rostad I read an article about the orphan train back in 2007 when I was working on another project. I have a soft spot for orphans. My first big girl job was a case manager working with youthful offenders in Los Angeles after the riots in the 90s. These kids had committed terrible crimes, and many were orphans of the streets like my Charles in You Belong Here Now. Like Charles, the kids I worked with still had hope, still wanted to belong, to have a family, and be worthy of love.
