Natalie Navar asked this question about A Deadly Education (The Scholomance, #1):
Does this book get good at any point? I'm 20% of the way through and find the main character SO annoying, and the whole "the school is trying to kill me" got old on page 2. I really liked "Uprooted", and kind of liked "Spinning Silver"- should I keep reading this or give it up as a loss?

When the reader first meets El the reader sees her the same way as the other students at the school feel towards her. It is only as the story goes along that we begin to understand why El is the way she is on the surface and who she truly is underneath. Keep reading. I felt the same way as you did starting the book but ended up loving El as much as I loved the heroines in Uprooted and Spinning Silver.(less)
