I am not exactly sure of the connection but the Low-Beer family you mention with regards to the woman that Addy falls in love with and her daunting mother is almost certainly a relative. My grandmother's grandmother was Berta Low-Beer (Moravian jews). I don't think you mention the name of the girl's mother but I couldn't find an Eliska Lowbeer on my family tree. Do you happen to know the name of Eliska's mother?
