Maybe it's because she's not like the other fmcs that are confident, headstrong, and sorta perfect. TO them, maybe she's like a fresh of breath air. I'm saying maybe because I agree with everything you just said (her bleeding heart and stupidity irk me too). I think it's because for a fictional fantasy series, she's acting realistic. I'm not too sure.
