I never would have guessed this book was a stand alone. While I was able to follow the plot line okay, I felt like I was missing something with so many of the background information and assumed it was a part of a series with a certain character.

Yes, this book stands alone, but is #1 is the new "Frankie" series...it doesn't hinge on any background information or previous characters. #2 in the series is ONE STEP TOO FAR, the next missing person case Frankie takes on.
