The first book is free of anything inappropriate! (I haven't read the rest yet.) My family enjoyed it, from ages 7-41. :) (I think it's a little weird that the magic teacher lives alone with all those little girls, but maybe I've just had too much Youth Protection training. Two-deep leadership!)

This is on old question, but it is appropriate for teenagers! Some scary elements but not too much! There is, however, one chapter in volume 10 that tackles sexual assault in a non-graphic way, but it may be triggering to some people.

The age rating from the publisher is ages 10+. There is some artistic, non-sexual female nudity, if that is a concern for you. The content itself is clean in the first 2 books (which is as far as I've read so far).

I've only read book one, so I don't know if it gets darker or more menacing. We put it in YA at our library. It's a great story for any young reader (11 or 12 an up?) who likes magic.
