Still in the midst of reading. A shame such similarities between this & Verity (read a year ago). Many times at the start of book I put it down & thought - "I read this before" . I started rushing through it, then checked my goodreads list. Sure enough I found Verity & similar storyline. I am now reading thru it in more detail. Glad for Goodreads & will continue to list my books. Maybe there needs to be statement?

Marylynn Laura: please look up the copyrights of books. Verity was published years before . You are seeing a newer edition of verity. It was published 12/7/2018. The housemaid was published in 2022
Laura Again - the VERITY book was written AFTER The Wife Upstairs so if you are going to say you read a similiar story than Colleen Hoover COPIED this one.

I like The Wife Upstairs so much more than Verity to be honest.
Stephanie I haven't read Verity, so I cannot speak to the exact similarities. I do have to say though that I think in this world now, we cannot really make up any new stories. Everything has really been done to a certain extent. I am not defending plagiarism by any means, but there is definitely a fine line between coincidence, inspiration, similar ideas, and plagiarism.
