Rebecca seems the obvious choice here. And once the gun was revealed - true to Ibsen's rule - if a gun is produced it must be fired. Of course, we never saw it fired, but that's just one more unanswered question in this baffling, often tiresome novel.

My guess was Rebecca too. But then there was a spot before that where Edie was handling the gun so it very well could have been her. To me it was just another random plot point that just hung out there.
