I'm confused. Was Dawn in 2 airplane crashes? Going back and forth in time is difficult for me. I loved all the Egypt material and Picoult's books. I just don't get her being in a plane crash with Wyatt. Please enlighten me.

I think because of the Egyptology, and specifically “The Book of Two Ways,” Picoult wanted to make it seem to the reader that they were two separate paths/parallel universes, although within the last 2-3 Water/Land sections it becomes more apparent that it’s simple non linear storytelling. Although, in spite of that, I think the larger message of no matter which path the dead took—land or water—s/he ended up in the same place is definitely at play within the “After.”(less)
