(view spoiler)[Hi Karen, I LOVED Hello Love! I have to ask, though, why you decided to have Andrea hitch Anni to that sign post and if you had any other scenarios for how that scene might otherwise have played out. It just seemed so very out of character for Andrea after having been so protective of the dog up to that point. Thanks! Karen (hide spoiler)]
Karen McQuestion
Hi Karen! Thanks for letting me know you enjoyed the book. :) To answer your question: I think we've all done things that feel risky, but we rationalize that it's only for a minute, and what could go wrong? I put this particular decision in that category.
At one point, the scene played out with Marco taking Anni out of the (unlocked) car, but my legal advisor told me that the police officers would not have taken this lightly and it would have most likely resulted in him getting charged with a crime, and the story would have gotten bogged down logistically. Since the focus of the story was on Dan, Andrea, and Anni that wasn't (IMO) ideal.
There's so much to think about when writing a book, and it never comes out perfect, no matter how hard I try. I guess the upside to that is that I'm always striving to be better!
