On a somewhat personal note involving the Books by the Bay series: Have you ever wandered the coast like Olivia and found similar "treasures" in the sand? I've enjoyed learning about the things she discovers on her early morning dog walks.

Hi Michelle. The metal detecting element is inspired by my older brother. He got one for his birthday when we were kids. We lived on the water—our house faced a harbor that led to the Long Island Sound—and he'd comb the beach for treasures all the time. He never stopped this hobby and now walks the beaches of the Jersey Shore or wherever he travels. He's found such interesting things including jewelry, cell phones, old coins, and eating utensils. Where I live in NC, there's a fairly active metal detecting community. If you ever want to watch a cute movie about the subject, there's a British film called The Detectorists that I really enjoyed.

Hi Ellery, Just finished reading The Secret, Book and Scone Society...placed it on my 'all nighter' shelf. I ate so many treats while reading your book probably gained 50 pounds! Absolutely loved the every moment and did not want it to end. I have already pre-ordered your next book and making sure the library I work at has a copy as well. Do you ever speak in California at Pages Bookstore in Manhattan Beach?

Hello Ellery, I just finished reading The secret, book and scone society and I was so intrigued by the story. I finished the book in one day staying awake most of the night. When can we expect to read the next book in the series? Also how many books are you going to include in the series?

Will there be any more Hope Street Church mysteries? I believe they are the best series of yours that I have read. I also enjoy the Book Retreat Mysteries. I have to say that I am not a huge fan of the books in Secret, Book, and Scone Society although I love the name for the series.
