It's a golden retriever named Sadie. She's gentle and protects our home from dangers such as deer, birds, and falling leaves. She loves to chase after a stick, unless she's in a lazy mood, and even if she bothers to run after it, she doesn't understand that she's supposed to bring it back so we can throw it again. If we give her a bath, she's guaranteed to go roll in dirt immediately afterward. She loves to go on hikes, to tease the neighbor's dogs who are stuck in a kennel, and has a morbid fear of cardboard boxes. She recently had a stand-off with a skunk. And lost.

If I've already asked this question, then I apologize. When writing in first person, I find it easier to get inside the characters head, but harder to portray their personality. In The False Prince, Sage's personality is so strong and you can easily see the portrayal of his character to be witty and sarcastic. I love that. Any pointers to get the characters true personality out there while writing in first person? Thx
