Enjoyed reading "The Beach House" and "Swimming Lessons" for the stories and the turtle info. While loggerheads are the super stars in the books, I wanted to know if you've ever seen the other turtle you mention -- the leatherback -- in person. If so, what was that like?

I have worked for years with the leatherback sea turtles. I’m on the board of the Leatherback Trust and we monitor the Pacific leatherbacks that nest on Playa Grande, Cosa Rica. Sadly the Pacific leatherbacks are 95% extinct. Thus our great concern. The Atlantic leatherbacks we get in Florida seem to be on an upward trend!
