I'll do my best to explain this without giving any spoilers I know I wont give anything major away but I may give something small away by accident. )Apologies if that happens by the way.)
A sixteen year old girl named Tessa Gray comes to London because her aunt who had previously been taking care of her has died. She comes to stay with her brother but is picked up at the dock by people who claim to be sent by her brother. Minor spoiler here I don't find it to big though. These people who pick her up "The Dark Sisters" try to abuse her ability which I wont spoil and tell you what it is. Anyways she gets rescued by shadow hunters who explain to her what her power means. After she gets rescued they find that a man is not only after her but surprise surprise has bad intentions so he must be stopped.
