I was confuse in the end. Why didn't Rainsford just find a boat and leave the island after he killed Zaroff? Why he slept on Zaroff's bed instead of his own..... was him too tired to do all these??

April Rainsford sleeping in Zaroff's bed signifies victory. He has finally defeated the general, and so Rainsford takes his position of luxury.
Forked Radish Zaroff had an excellent cellar and Zaroff's bed had cute little pink bunnies embroidered in the duvet cover.
