Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Dave Johnson I wanted to recapture the feel of adventure books that I would have liked when I was a child. Then, for me, WWII did not seem that far away. My father was in the Royal Air Force, (not that he was ever in combat), My mother was in the land army, and all around, living on base, there were trappings of the war all around, from air-raid shelters to vintage planes on display. So aspects of the 1940s were imprinted on to my childhood, even though I was born later.
