I feel fortunate to say that I've never experienced it. As a self-published author, there is so much to do, so I really look forward to sitting and writing. Walking alone, I find a good way of working out the plot. Gym sessions on an exercise bike are beneficial, too - if my mind is wandering off on an adventure, it takes my mind off the pain!

I wanted to recapture the feel of adventure books that I would have liked when I was a child. Then, for me, WWII did not seem that far away. My father was in the Royal Air Force, (not that he was ever in combat), My mother was in the land army, and all around, living on base, there were trappings of the war all around, from air-raid shelters to vintage planes on display. So aspects of the 1940s were imprinted on to my childhood, even though I was born later.
