asked:
Does anyone know why Ms. Weir spelled Katherine Howard's name "Katheryn"? I realize that in the sixteenth century, spelling was "all over the place," but I have never seen the Fifth Queen's name spelled this way.

Probably to distinguish her from the first Katherine, Queen Katherine of Aragon.

Actually, Katheryn Howard always spelled her name as Katheryn. Later historians called her Catherine, Katherine, Katharine, etc. since they weren't too fussy about spelling. But I think Ms. Weir chose Katheryn because that was how she spelled it.

I've very often seen her named spelled as "Katheryn". I think there's even a picture of her signature spelled that way, though I don't know if it's an authentic signature.
