Amanda asked Lucinda Riley:

I'm not sure if anyone has asked you this before, but I've been wondering since I started this series, if the basic idea was based on any other book you've read? For some reason, the idea of Pa Salt reminds me of 'Ballet Shoes' by Noel Streatfeild that I loved as a child. I'm not saying you've copied the idea at all. I'm looking forward to reading the last two books in the series but wish Pa Salt had adopted more! xx

Lucinda Riley Hi Amanda,

Ma would have been kept very busy indeed if Pa Salt had adopted more than six girls! The premise of the series is based on the Greek myths of the Pleiades star cluster -- you can read more about these myths at my website www.lucindariley.com and Pa Salt is of course, based on Atlas, the famed father of the Seven Sisters of legend.

'Ballet Shoes' was one of my favourite childhood books, and naturally the character of Pa Salt has elements of many father figures I have encountered throughout life and literature, and I hope you are intrigued by all the mysteries surrounding him in the series. Noel Streatfeild was truly an amazing writer.
