They didn't actually end up together. I mean, yes, they did have sex, but it wasn't the start of a relationship between the two. They didn't love each other like that. If you reread the chapter at the end where she wakes up in the apartment you might see things you missed. Dannie mistook the strong feelings she felt at the beginning of the book in the vision for love. She thought that strange, unique, and weird feeling must be love for this guy, but it wasn't. It was in fact grief, which she had never ever dealt with before and therefore didn't recognize it when she had her vision dream.

It speaks to what Bella told Dannie, she wasn't experiencing the depth of emotion with David that indicated love. That Dannie wasn't able, in the vision, to differentiate between the belief that she was feeling intense love for the man in the vision and the actuality of intense grief of that moment proves the point. Also, without context, our perceptions of events, even our own can be faulty.
