Usually, because my preferred genre is fantasy and sci-fi, my inspiration to write comes from realizing or learning a concept from either religion/mythology, history, or science. If I learn about an interesting fantasy-related, scientific, or mythological concept I might be inspired to write a little story about it, or perhaps a big story.
