After finishing this wonderful tale, I took the title as being about the importance of being focused on the important things in life. Micah kept thinking the fire hydrant was a person, but he was almost blind to the person-to-person relationships in his life until life brought it back into focus & Tyler left us with the possibility of a happy ending(?).

The redhead by the side of the road is mentioned twice. Micah sees the redhead by the side of the road when he goes jogging without his glasses. I don't think the book ended abruptly. I think Micah had all the information he needed.
