I love your writing. In your book ASK AGAIN, YES, I love the way you fearlessly delve into the subject of alcoholism in all of its forms. In one of your comments, you share that you have some personal experience in this. I, too, grew up in a household where alcohol was prominently situated in our daily routines. Have you written anything more about growing up this way?

I don't write nonfiction about my own life but of course I pull from what I know at at times. My new novel centers around a bar (the bar and the novel are called The Half Moon), also in Gillam. Between AA,Y and my new book a reader could probably make a pretty educated guess as to how I grew up.

So many writers have a political and moral agenda. This book was such a pleasure to read because not once did I ever feel like I was being preached at. It was simply a compelling and well-written story that everyone can relate to. How hard is it to remain politically and morally neutral when you are creating a story?

As I was reading the book, you discussed tricks and ways that alcoholics and also people that drink too much do to cut down on their drinking. It really struck me, as I have dealt with alcoholics in my life. Did your own experience with alcoholics influence your writing about it? Or did you have to do research all of it?
