Mr. Towles, 'A Gentleman in Moscow' is a masterpiece. As geologist & wine lover your passage, "Near the end of the aisle, the Count turned down one of the rows. With a quick accounting of columns and shelves....he reflected how the curve of the glass fit in the palm of the hand... But inside? Inside this dark green glass..." a truly lovely description/expression of wine - would you comment on the roots of its origin?

Not a question so much as a fan letter? Wanted to let you know that our Book Club - the Main Street Book Club in Essex, MA - discussed a Gentleman in Moscow last night. A large group of avid readers, we were in 100% agreement that it was one of the our favorite books ever. It was as if Tolstoy married Edith Wharton, a lovely - even serene - read that provided a great deal of solace in these troubled times.
