Do you see any relation between your novel and the nonfiction you've written? I'm especially interested if there's a connection to the theme of extreme belief, which has been a theme of your work in the past. Thanks in advance. Really looking forward to reading The End of October.

Absolutely. So much of the novel is drawn from experiences I've had as a journalist. You'll see references to religious cults, for instance, which I have written about several times, and to Saudi Arabia, where I lived for a while after 9/11 when I was working on "The Looming Tower." There are also a number of private secrets buried in the narration that may be only meaningful to me.
