Corybenedict asked Lawrence Wright:

What was researching for this book like and how did it compare to researching for your nonfiction works? I haven’t been able to purchase the book yet, so please no spoilers :)

Lawrence Wright As bleak as the book is, the research was a joy. I got to speak to some of the finest scientific minds I've ever encountered. I won't spoil the plot, but I will say that there were times when I painted myself into a corner. My hero had to come up with some brilliant solution to the quandary I had placed him in. Then I'd turn to my sources. It turns out that medical scientists are really puzzle solvers. Diseases are riddles. When I presented my dilemmas, they were delighted. At last, a new puzzle! Now, of course, they're working on a real one.
