I am unfamiliar with your fiction work, but thoroughly enjoyed The Looming Tower. Is this your first foray into fiction? What authors or works informs or influences your work?

Lawrence Wright I wrote a previous novel, "God's Favorite," about Manuel Noriega. I was fascinated by his spiritual quest, despite the fact that he was a dictator and drug dealer. He was also a vegetarian, Buddhist, Catholic, witch-doctor-dependent spiritual figure. I loved the paradox. Scarcely anyone read it. Bob Hoskins starred in the Showtime movie we made of it.

Hi Mr. Lawrence, thanks for the Looming Tower, it's a great read. You note that Jamal Khashoggi, the journalist murdered in Turkey by the Saudis, was a confidant of UBL. Why do you think Khashoggi was murdered? What are you thoughts as to why this connection was never, to my knowledge, acknowledged in the US press coverage of that event. I think the press saw it as an opportunity to smear Trump, nothing more.
