Can someone help me with the timeline, because I'm confused and it's bugging me? Melody's party is when she is 16 and Aubrey and Po'boy are alive. Later we find out both subsequently die- In Sabe's last chapter she says that this was 5 yrs ago. In the last chapter, after Sabe's funeral, it is implied that Melody and Malcolm are both just leaving for college for 1st time but for this would make them at least 21-22?

The author seems to have made a choice to fill in the back and future stories of Melody's birthday party by hopping around. Occasionally upon starting a new chapter it took me a couple of pages to figure out who was narrating when, but after finishing I have a pretty clear picture of the order of the whole story. (less)
