I am currently reading The 7th Canon, and as a baptised (and lapsed) Catholic I am very interested in the strong religious undertones of the novel. Am I right to assume that the Catholic connection comes from Italian/Mediterranean roots? Would you ever consider writing a book based outside the US? As a European reader, that would make me happy :).
Robert Dugoni
You are correct. The Extraordinary Life of Sam Hell is another book about faith, which is different from religion and always interesting. I wrote The Eighth Sister, which takes place in Moscow, and the sequel, The Last Agent, also takes place in Russia and in Norway. I love to travel and find new places, so the chances of a book set in another country are good. I love Italy and I'm so sad what is taking place there right now. Breaks my heart. That is a country of warmth and life.

Did anything change for you or your writing disciplines since 2010? What is your best writing advice? I think you created a great female character in Tracy with identifiable internal conflicts, personal growth and relationships. You must ask the right questions and be a great listener. Did you consider self publishing at any point?

I loved The Extraordinary Life of Sam Hell. I just scrolled down to see that this will be made into a movie. I look forward to seeing it, but movies rarely do the book justice. Your character development left me missing Sam, Mickie, and Ernie after I turned the last page. I had developed a relationship with each one. Who would you choose to play these characters in a movie?
