Oona asked Robert Dugoni:

Hi Robert, I am a high school English teacher in northern New Jersey. Recently, I read Sam Hell, and look forward to reading your other novels. I teach contemporary fiction to 12th graders, and one of our units requires them to write research based fiction. Can you share some of your tips for research when it comes to fiction writing? I'd love to share some of your tips during our next online writing workshop. Thanks!

Robert Dugoni I always tell young people, find a subject that interests you. That way the research doesn't become drudgery. It is interesting because it's always something you wanted to know. Take Disneyland. You can research the behind the scenes of the park and learn about characters coming in and out of their setting. Anything at all that you think is of interest. Then just start with the internet, google. Then go to Amazon and look for books. And try to have fun.
Thanks for asking
