The extraordinary life of Sam Hell was one of the best books I’ve ever read. I also like your series of course. both have characters that really seem to resonate and show their human sides. I am curious how the writing process differs when you are writing a standalone book like Sam hell versus something in the series?

Robert Dugoni You know, it doesn't change all that much. I always start with the character. Sam was paramount. I had a story idea but I didn't have a story until I found Sam. From there I just let the characters tell me the story and try to get out of the way and not try to force it.

I loved The Extraordinary Life of Sam Hell. I just scrolled down to see that this will be made into a movie. I look forward to seeing it, but movies rarely do the book justice. Your character development left me missing Sam, Mickie, and Ernie after I turned the last page. I had developed a relationship with each one. Who would you choose to play these characters in a movie?
