Goodreads asked Mike Wech:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Mike Wech Writing is challenging. It's hard work, skill, dedication, perseverance, rejection, acceptance, marketing and so much more. You put everything you have, every part of your being passionately into interpreting the dreams and visions you receive as an artist. And you have no control over the result. That's hard to accept, because your livelihood comes from success or you are doing other things to support your passion.

If you really want to write, then just do it. Write passionately from the core of your being and let it all out. Don't worry what others think, but find the wisdom in critique so you can figure out if there are ways to make something better.

Story is as unique as its author. It has limitless boundaries of expression, so discover what the best way to execute your idea is, then don't stop until it is finished.

Make the sacrifice. Take the time to do it. Don't give up. Don't let fear stop you. Cut back on the things that suck time and energy away from your writing and focus until you see the vision complete.
