Sending my manuscript out on my own, I got 37 rejections. But I was pretty naive and stubborn, so I kept trying. Once I landed an agent, she sold my book in two weeks to a major publisher. But this was 20 years ago, when publishing was a completely different animal and self-publishing wasn't an option.

How do you organize your research so that you don't constantly research the same issues over and over? Do you keep detailed files of places and people you've researched? Have you ever found that you get sidetracked by interesting information you find while researching? (Sorry, I love research, so I get a bit carried away with the research questions.)
