I don't think the book would traumatise a 16 year old, it would simply go over their head. However, it can play a role in their life possibly as a warning to a very similar dynamic which happens more often but with just as damaging consequences: at university when a narcissistic 3rd year targets an naive and vulnerable fresher and "keeps" them for as long as is convenient.(less)
