There's a certain amount of texturing and stock-taking by the narrator in her 30's that I think makes it a little harder read than simply being the story of what happened to her when she was 15.

There's being intellectually old enough to "get" a book but there are a lot of books it took me far longer to be able to appreciate and work through emotionally. This is in many ways a very wrenching read.(less)
