It is somewhat graphic in nature, but most importantly the plot and characters are disturbing. The main character in this novel is just not thinking straight and has been brainwashed. Someone as young as 16 may think that what happens to Vanessa is her choice, but do not be fooled. It is not. Skip this and read something else. If you are interested in some cool thriller lit, check out the author Ruth Ware. (less)
