Hi there! I’m a huge fan of your short stories, and I was wondering if there are any short story collections that have left you with a strong, emotional impact?

N.K. Jemisin Offhand, China Mieville's LOOKING FOR JAKE blew my mind; Nalo Hopkinson and Uppinder Meehan's anthology SO LONG BEEN DREAMING made me reconsider what "colonial" and "postcolonial" meant; Octavia Butler's BLOODCHILD AND OTHER STORIES was just fun (in a mindblowing, often horrifying way).

Will I need to brush up on my plate tectonics to read this one?! Seriously, your first trilogy was heavily scientific sci/fi. I loved it, but getting into the wholly new world was hard, especially as I let too much time lag between the books. Does this new series demand as much from the reader, and is this a concern to you as the author?

How did you decide to end your Broken Earth trilogy in a way that kept mother and daughter from fully reconciling? I wish they had been able to talk and explain themselves to each other and understand how much they were alike! (I know that probably BECAUSE I wanted that for them, your way was the more powerful and moving ending!)
