I was really excited for this book. I love this series. I usually listen to it on audio book but this time I read the book. So maybe that's why I didn't enjoy it as much. It was a bit of a let down. Maybe I hyped it up in my mind after reading the others. I'm going to give it another chance by listening to it later. I just found the story to be a bit flat. Can anyone give me their insights on the story?

It definitely wasn’t my favorite of the series. I felt it was a bit of a rehash of Marrying Winterborne, except Cassandra was less interesting than Helen. The only real point that seemed to matter was that Severin needed to realize that he was being held back by being too logical. Unfortunately instead of growing into a character who could be logical and caring he was magically domesticated through intercourse. The change was proven by a series of events similar to those that Winterborne dealt with, which felt repetitive and uninteresting. I agree that it was flat.
