What Genre would you consider "The Greatcoats" to be? Or well maybe should I say sub-genre (for example Grimdark etc) I have read quite a few books after finishing the Greatcoats saga, but I haven't found a series like this. Its really hard to explain but this series in general had a very special feel to it. Hope triumphing over despair?
Sebastien de Castell
I always think of it as "Swashbuckling Fantasy". Alas, I haven't found anyone else I'd put into that genre. There's plenty of heroic fantasy out there (which is the sub-genre the Greatcoats would technically fit into, I suspect), but it never quite grabs me. There's lots of roguish stories but they tend not to have the idealistic bent that informs my writing. So I can't really tell you what would fill in as a substitute. On the other hand, I am writing a new series in the Greatcoats world as we speak, so there will be more to come, I promise!

Hey!! So I just want to say I loved the Greatcoats series, it has so much heart in it, I just don't know how you're able to elicit such emotions from words. You sir are a genius. Now as to my question, do you ever intend to return to the Greatcoats series or specifically to Falcio, Brasti and Kest?

This is more of a begging post than a question.... Please, will you write a book about Ugh? Yes, I read all the way to the back ;) I love Ugh as did my BR group for books 1-3 for Greatcoats. I think a book about his life would be most excellent and all Ugh's fans would read it. You can't bring a character like Ugh into a book and drop a tidbit about him and not expect your GC followers not to want more !
