for me, the theme is about loyalty and love for your family. the biggest thing that i see is the fact that Day struggles to fully consciously love and care for June- because she killed his family. He can never fully forgive her for taking away everything he had and killed the only people (minus Tess) that he loved. i love this about Day, the fact that he puts blood first and is fiercely protective, loyal, and loving to his family. He puts blood first and heals wounds, while June creates blood and wounds.
