Seth Doughty asked Tom Wood:

I'm curious: Living in the UK, how did you learn so much about the inner workings of the CIA? And on an unrelated note, What was your inspiration for Victor as a character, and the entire series?

Tom Wood Mostly from nonfiction books, documentaries and so on but I wouldn't claim to know all that much about the inner workings of the CIA. It's a massive bureaucracy and, quite rightly, very secretive about how it goes about its actual business. As a fiction writer with story being my priority I'm not trying to accurately recreate how the CIA does things but present a reasonably believe 'what if...?' scenario. But I'm glad I come across as more knowledgeable than I am... As for Victor, I've always liked antiheroes and quite often preferred the villain to the protagonist in many stories. Originally I envisioned him as an antagonist but decided it would be far more interesting to flip that around and have him as the 'hero'.
