Not a question, per se, but more of a comment... I've started watching the limited series 'The Ghost Bride' on Netflix. Just wondering if anyone else is watching? What are your thoughts? I'm enjoying it, but wish it didn't diverge from the book at all.

Stephanie I loved the book and the characters so much and the Netflix series has changed so many details of the characters and the plot it seems like an entirely different creation. If you watch it on its own merits it is worth seeing, though, it seems like it is set more in the 1990s than the 1890s, with some of the dialogue and the added sitcom humor.
peachrings After I finished the book I was excited to discover there was a series, but I struggled to enjoy it. The tone is very different and almost all the aspects I liked in the book were drastically changed (Er Lang, what did they do to you,) or missing entirely. At least the series is only 6 episodes so it's not a huge time sink.
Qiling Liang I hope there is second season for the series. I enjoy it myself but I wish the series followed the book closely instead.
Natasha Martis I'm glad that I discovered the book after the TV show. This helped me watch the TV show for its own merit. The only things the TV show and the book seems to have in common are the general plot and the character names other than that they are very different. For someone who is very new to the Chinese culture, the TV show seems to be a nice introduction but the book truly helps you understand a lot deeper.
Ag Just started watching the series on Netflix, I do not recommend. It is too different compared to the book. The atmosphere of the novel is different compared to the series, it even seems the story is very different.
Yaaresse I thought the series was beautifully filmed and had a lot of eye candy with the costumes and sets, but didn't do justice to the book. The person I was watching it with thought it was too disjointed and confusing. We both got bored and stopped watching about 2/3 of the way through. He went on to read the book and liked the book much better.
Westley I remember reading the book when it came out around eight years ago so I'm a little hazy on it. I just finished watching the Netflix version but it doesn't resemble what I remember. Its like they gave it the 'True Blood' treatment.
Karen I watched the series before I plan to read the book. For those who are not into mysticism, it may be a bit too much. But the series has a beautiful setting in Malaysia in the 1800s. I had not know about the thriving Chinese culture there. Beautiful setting with a young cast. Now I'm going to read the book.
Cym Camille Coffman-mitch it's not even the same story. The names are pretty much the only similarity.
The book was unique and heavy on the paranormal. The Netflix series is just a common love triangle with a dusting of ghost. I'm actually very disappointed as I'm watching it right now.
Christi M I have watched part of it and now am starting to read the book. It diverges more from the book than I expected, but do like it in general.
Cheri Teleri After seeing it's a book here I just may WATCH it - I watch KDramas a lot but usually the CDramas or Taiwanese ones are just endless. But now I'm intrigued. Just bought the book LOL
