Cathy Cade Look up anything you're not sure of: grammar, punctuation, spelling, style, technique. background... (and advice you were given xx decades ago at school may well have changed. Style is an obvious one, but there are fashions in grammar and punctuation too.) there's a lot of help out there for the aspiring writer. Subscribe to some blogs and interact with them. Start your own. It's time consuming but does wonders for your confidence.
