Landon Jenkins
Landon Jenkins asked Colleen Hoover:

Hello. How do you come up with your character’s names? They are always unique - Ryle, Tate, Atlas, Kel, Lake, Ridge, Corbin, etc.

Colleen Hoover I always try to use unique names so when readers talk about the characters on social media, they aren't being confused with other characters from other books. I think it's important for authors to have names that stand out. I mean, one of my favorite names in a book is Kellan Kyle (from Thoughtless by SC Stephens.) It's such a great name and you're taken right back to that book and his personality when you see the name online.
I mostly get my names from readers at signings, or street signs. There's a small town called Atlas nearby and I saw that name on a sign and stole it. Same with Ridge and Cooper and Merit.
And sometimes I'll pull up baby name websites and scroll for names I haven't heard used much in the book world.
